ESPN+ delivers the Ohio @ Sacramento State kickoff: Chris Sylvester and Doc Holliday on the mic

The 2026 college football season is under way, and the competition that gets a lot of attention early on is the Ohio @ Sacramento State Division I FBS kickoff, scheduled for Friday 18 October 2026. For readers keeping a close eye on the clock, that lands at around 03:00 UK time, so tune in overnight and you will catch the full thing from start to finish.

The broadcast comes through ESPN Unlimited, backed by the ESPN+ paywalled experience for those with an account. That is the same family of feeds ESPN has used across recent years, and it is where the play-by-play and analyst pairings line up for viewers who want a front-row seat at the field.

The main commentator on this one is Chris Sylvester, who brings the play-by-play. In ESPN's 2026-27 schedule, Chris Sylvester is listed alongside Doc Holliday for the Ohio at Sacramento State kickoff, with Doc Holliday taking the analyst role that rounds out the pairing.

The pair behind the announcing

Both names have been on the ESPN+ college football rota across the early weeks of the 2026 season. Doc Holliday has shown up as the analyst alongside other play-by-play men in the first week of announcing, and Chris Sylvester has been called up as play-by-play for a couple of the opening kickoffs, including one pairing with Jordan Reid as analyst.

That means the Ohio at Sacramento State slot slots into a season where these commentators have already been working the field, which is exactly what makes this kickoff a good one to watch if you want to see how the same team handles a different matchup.
